Data Deletion

Last updated: 29 August 2026

1. What this page is

This page explains how to delete data that Aeris holds, and how to ask us to delete it for you. It covers both the businesses who use Aeris and the customers who message them through a connected Facebook Page, Instagram account or WhatsApp Business number.

If you messaged a business and want your conversation deleted, see Section 4 — you can ask us directly, and you do not need an Aeris account.

2. Deleting your Aeris account

Closing your account deletes everything associated with it. Email [email protected] from the address your account is registered to, with the subject Delete my account.

We confirm the request, delete the account, and confirm again when it is done. We aim to complete deletion within 30 days of the request.

Deleting the account removes your business configuration, your conversations and messages across every channel, the per-conversation records described below, and every stored access token.

3. Disconnecting a messaging channel

You do not have to close your account to remove a connected channel. In Aeris, open Facebook → Connection and choose Disconnect on the channel you want to remove.

Disconnecting immediately deletes the stored access token for that channel, and Aeris stops receiving messages sent to it. Messages already received remain in your queue so you can still see your history; to have those deleted as well, email us as described below.

4. Deleting messages you sent to a business

If you are a customer who messaged a business through Facebook Messenger, Instagram Direct or WhatsApp, you can ask us to delete your messages even though you do not have an Aeris account.

Email [email protected] with the subject Delete my messages and tell us:

  • which business you were messaging (their Page name, Instagram handle or WhatsApp number), and
  • the name or handle you messaged them from.

That is enough for us to find the conversation. We do not need, and will not ask for, your password or any account credentials. We respond within 30 days.

Deleting a conversation on request removes the messages and the record of the conversation. Note that the business you messaged may hold its own copy of the conversation inside Meta's own apps, which we cannot delete on your behalf — that is between you and Meta.

5. What is deleted automatically

Some data is deleted on a schedule, whether or not anyone asks:

DataDeleted
The original webhook payload received from Meta30 days after the message arrives
Messages received through a connected channel12 months after the message arrives
Access token for a channelImmediately when that channel is disconnected
Everything associated with an accountWhen the account is closed

One record is deliberately kept for as long as the business's account exists: whether automated replies are paused for a conversation, and when the automated-assistant notice was last sent. That is the record of someone asking not to receive automated replies. Deleting it would cause those replies to resume, so we keep it — and it goes when the account goes.
